Mission

LIFE is a community based organization that is committed to combating the long lasting effects of domestic violence, spousal abuse, teen dating violence and partner abuse (all of which are one in the same). We will work on a preventative basis to stop the harm before it starts and a pro active basis to provide help and assistance for any and all victims of this epidemic.

Programs we will offer include:

	Counseling
	Anger management
	Financial classes
	Resources to shelters, medical care and treatment
	Funding for shelter in emergency situations
	Community awareness programs and events
	Intervention

In The Eyes Of A Victim

Shh…Can you see me? I am invisible, right? Good, because if you can’t see me then neither can HE. I’m not sure what I have done this time but it must’ve been something awful because he hasn’t been this way in a very long time.

The kids are quiet and tucked away in bed…they know that although it is still light outside, under the covers is the best place to be right now. I am supposed to be cleaning up the broken dishes on the floor and tossing a perfectly good meal (or at least I thought so) in the garbage but I thought I would break away just for a moment to write this to you. You are the only person I have to talk to right now. I can’t share my thoughts and do not dare to speak them because Lord knows if it gets back to Him there will be hell to pay.

Eventually I will need to make my way upstairs and into his arena, but for now I’d much rather take the punishment of cutting my fingers on the broken glass (truth be told, I would cut off a finger right now…).

Okay, it is time to go upstairs. When I come down will it be on a stretcher? Will I be on my feet but just a little bruised up? Will I be on my hands and knees or rolling down the stairwell? Or will this invisible woman be taken out in fame, wrapped up snuggly in a bright shiny body bag? Either way, I must not keep Him waiting...

Domestic Violence Facts

Women at greatest risk for injury from domesticviolence include those with male partners who abuse alcoholor use drugs, or are unemployed.
Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15-44.
Every 21 days, a woman is killed by domestic violence.
Children are involved in 60 percent of domestic violence cases.
Annually in the United States, 503,485 women are stalked by an intimate partner.
Victims and abusers are found in every social and economic class, race, religious group, and sexual orientation
13% of teenage girls report being physically hurt in a relationship
35% of female victims said they did not report the abuse to police because it was a private matter
